Coronavirus Updates

Hi everyone! As you all know, coronavirus is rapidly becoming a concern throughout the United States, and many universities and other institutions are canceling or postponing events. We wanted to let our Redbuddies (as we call our Redbud community) know that we’re aware of this situation and let you know what we’re thinking about in terms of contingency plans.

First of all, if a community-wide quarantine goes into effect, we will hold our classes as-scheduled, remotely. We’re hard at work now designing an online curriculum and system that will replicate the experience of in-person class, should it come to that.

Second of all, some of our instructors have decided that they are willing to make their classes in-person/online hybrid classes. What this means is: you can elect to take the class in person, or you can elect to take it online, using conference-call software and an electronic classroom (if the coronavirus threat subsides and you want to transition from being an online student to an in-person student, you are welcome to do so as well). If you’re immunocompromised or just uncomfortable with making extracurricular plans right now, then these courses would be a good option for you! (plus, for the first time ever, people from anywhere in the world can sign up for a Redbud course, so that’s cool).

As of now, the following classes have online capacity:

We will update this list as we continue to work with our instructors and figure out the logistics of online courses.

Finally, rest assured that we are very committed to keeping our in-person students safe and healthy. We cap our class size at eight, so you won’t be in any large groups when you attend a Redbud course. We’re also going to ask students not to shake hands until the virus threat subsides, and will provide hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes at every class.

Stay safe and healthy, everyone, and as always, let us know if you have any questions!
