Bookstores of the Triangle Part 6: Read With Me

Read With Me is a primarily children’s bookshop tucked into a brick storefront in downtown Raleigh. Emily visited this week to pick up some birthday presents for her soon-to-be three-year-old niece—and had a great time going on a whirlwind tour of all the best books for that age range with the on-duty bookseller (“This is a shop favorite!” she said, handing Emily a picture book. Emily will not reveal which one it is, not wanting to spoil her niece’s present before the big day).

We love knowledgable booksellers, and we also love how this store is organized: books for little kids are located on the bottom shelves, while MG and YA books are located on the top shelves, so kids can age up from bottom shelves to top as they get taller. Although this store is mostly for children, it also has some adult books, plus reader-themed apparel and—something else we love—local art for sale hanging on the walls. We highly recommend swinging by Read With Me if you have a kid in your life—or even if you don’t!
